The early popularity of aluminum is based on price and convenience. Aluminum is much cheaper than wood, the only other option for the window design in the early years of double glazing. In addition, aluminum is easily are needed in the shapes and lengths, to extrude from the windows of all shapes and frame size. She is strong, durable and very close to maintenance.
Aluminum frames are not a problem, however. Aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat and cold. This is really a conductor, indeed, as colder temperatures, frost often forms on the inside surface of windows in the vicinity of aluminum compounds. The end result is that Windows is much less able to get framed heat and energy than other materials.
PVC has been introduced in the mid 80's as a choice for the design of double glazing and immediately began to climb in popularity. Energy relative to the other with an aluminum frame, PVC is less expensive and more conservative. It can not with the strength of aluminum, however, and there are security problems with its use. In addition, reducing the measured introduction of "breeze" of the thermal conductivity (U value) for most of the aluminum-framed Windows. The installation may be a less conductive material between the panes of the window as a "bridge" between the glass manufacturers to bring the U-value aluminum frame double glazed windows in the conservation standards.
The main selling points for the window frames aluminum were then:
1. Force - aluminum frame windows are much less vulnerable to disruption. Aluminum resists weather well, needs no paint and solid forms to adapt to rigid frames, which for much more than the wooden frame.
2. Cost - aluminum frames are much less expensive than wooden frames. They are easier to produce, and the material is cheaper to start. On the other hand, the introduction of PVC than offset the cost advantage. Significantly lower in price, and more efficient heating, PVC has become the material of choice for the design of double glazed windows.
3. Easy maintenance - What is wood, too late and decay and needs repainting every 3-5 years is subject to the virtually maintenance-free aluminum. This is not painting, not rot or warp and it is rigid and strong enough to bear the burden of lintels with minimum reinforcement.
4. Security - Because of adjustment possible with narrow windows framed in aluminum with double glazing, they were - and still are - the choice, where safety is a priority. It is very difficult to 'pop' an aluminum frame Windows from the frame when it is installed.
Using aluminum extrusions for window frames can be tricky if you're looking to reduce thermal transfer. Most design engineers build in thermal barriers, which restrict heat transfer, but don't eliminate it. ReplyDeleteI’m really amazed with your posting skills as well as with the layout on your blog site. Is this a paid style or did you modify it yourself? Either way keep up the pleasant quality writing, it is rare to see a great site such as this one these days.I recently came to know about http://rainbowpowdercoatings.com/, their Aluminum Extrusion are very effective.
